With spectacular views across Strangford Lough, this 60-acre wetland reserve offers extensive walks through a range of natural habitats, including woodlands, reed beds and meadows, set around a series of ponds and tidal lagoons. You can also explore the heritage apple orchard.
It’s a great place to spot waders, as well as teals, wigeons and shelducks. The site also offers a diverse range of wildlife habitats, including otter dens and kingfisher banks. Look out over the estuary for the aptly named lapwing, with its distinctive flight and familiar ‘peewit’ call. Kids can also get closer to nature by exploring the Wildwood, attempting the climbing wall and venturing into the secret swamp.
Check before you travel
Before setting off check the garden’s website or call direct, as opening details can vary and one-off restrictions may apply.
We advise checking the garden’s own website or calling them direct to ensure the published details are accurate, as opening times and restrictions may vary.
Always take your 2 for 1 card with you
Some gardens have pre-booking systems in place – take your 2 for 1 card with you to validate your booking.
If a garden offers both pre-booking and walk-up options, we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment should the garden be busy.
Please don’t make multiple pre-bookings or share your 2 for 1 card – card misuse will invalidate your discount claim at the garden.
