The garden and arboretum have been sculpted out of a rocky hillside and offer extensive views along Loch Aline and to the hills of the Isle of Mull. Despite soil that is shallow, stony, acidic and wet, many wonderful plants thrive on this 24-acre site, which includes a primula garden, alpine meadow, rockery and eucryphia garden, providing colour across the seasons.
Many lament the approach of autumn, as our garden begin to wind down for the year. At Ardtornish Gardens, however, the end of summer heralds one of its most colourful seasons. Enkianthus and Oxydendrum light up the garden with their burning red foliage, while red Cotoneaster berries glisten in the autumn sun. Later in the year, white Eucryphia flowers begin to bloom before the Prunus x subhirtella ‘Autumnal’ flushes the garden with an unexpected shock of pink.

Always take your 2 for 1 card with you
Some gardens have pre-booking systems in place – take your 2 for 1 card with you to validate your booking.
If a garden offers both pre-booking and walk-up options, we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment should the garden be busy.
Please don’t make multiple pre-bookings or share your 2 for 1 card – card misuse will invalidate your discount claim at the garden.
