An influential seven-acre garden created in the 1960s by acclaimed plantswoman, author and Chelsea gold medal winning designer Beth Chatto. Set in a hollow that combines extremes of wet and dry, it’s based on the principle of finding the right plant for the right place. There is plenty to see in spring, autumn and winter, with a gravel garden for drought-tolerant plants, a lush water garden and a woodland garden for shade-lovers.
Check before you travel
Before setting off check the garden’s website or call direct, as opening details can vary and one-off restrictions may apply.
We advise checking the garden’s own website or calling them direct to ensure the published details are accurate, as opening times and restrictions may vary.
Always take your 2 for 1 card with you
Some gardens have pre-booking systems in place – take your 2 for 1 card with you to validate your booking.
If a garden offers both pre-booking and walk-up options, we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment should the garden be busy.
Please don’t make multiple pre-bookings or share your 2 for 1 card – card misuse will invalidate your discount claim at the garden.
