Combining grand formal terraces, meadows, woods and riverside dells, this renowned 80-acre hillside garden is Grade I listed. Created over the past 250 years, it’s a historic and horticultural treasure, filled with plants from around the world that provide year-round beauty. Highlights include camellias, magnolias and rhododendrons in spring, roses, waterlilies and flower borders in summer, rich autumn leaf colour, a stunning winter garden and many champion trees.
One of the most important considerations when laying out a garden is light. At Bodnant, the Winter Garden is designed to capture the silvery light of midwinter with the low sun catching the plants and bringing their colours to light. It plays among the seedheads of the ornamental grasses and makes the bark of Tibetan cherries glow red. Fiery dogwoods are balanced by a rich variety of evergreens, providing the garden with both structure and texture. Daphnes and sarcococca, meanwhile, are fragrant even in the depths of winter. Bodnant really is a garden for all the senses.

Always take your 2 for 1 card with you
Some gardens have pre-booking systems in place – take your 2 for 1 card with you to validate your booking.
If a garden offers both pre-booking and walk-up options, we recommend booking prior to your visit to avoid disappointment should the garden be busy.
Please don’t make multiple pre-bookings or share your 2 for 1 card – card misuse will invalidate your discount claim at the garden.
