In this practical video, Monty Don explains how to grow scented-leaf pelargoniums and lavender in terracotta pots. He shares his potting compost mix and plants Pelargonium ‘Lady Plymouth’, explaining how to make the most of the gloriously aromatic foliage.

Then, he plants three lavender varieties: ‘Munstead’, Lavandula pinnata and Lavandula stoechas ‘Regal Splendour’ – a variety that will tolerate more acidic conditions than most lime-loving lavenders.

He recommends a potting mix to promote flowering and offers advice on watering plants. Finally, he positions his pelargonium and lavender pots for maximum perfume and ease of watering.
