Bellis daisies are a familiar ingredient of spring and early summer bedding schemes, with a multitude of varied uses such as in pots and window boxes, bedding displays and as edging for beds of other spring-flowering biennials. They are cheerful, easy to grow plants that need a minimum of fuss, and they offer instant impact that lasts for several weeks.
How to grow Bellis daisies
Use Bellis daisies to fill empty areas at the front of borders, or in rock gardens, where the blooms are sufficiently restrained to blend in. They also are a great option for cheering up an unloved corner or tired display. You can plant bellis daisy plug plants from August to overwinter and flower in early spring, or from spring for a slightly later flowering period.
Grow Bellis daisies in full sun to partial shade. Water weekly and feed fortnightly with a high potash fertiliser to encourage more flowers to form, and deadhead spent blooms to prolong the flowering season.
Bellis perennis ‘Double Pink’ has neat, tightly packed miniature heads in delicate shades of pink. It’s perfect for growing in bedding schemes in both containers and at the front of garden borders.
