Campanulas are loved for their bell-like, usually blue flowers and long flowering season. Traditionally used in cottage garden schemes, campanulas look particularly lovely when grown under shrub roses. Campanula flowers are extremely attractive to bees and other pollinators.
Campanula glomerata 'Purple Pixie' is a low-growing campanula, bearing clusters of purple-blue flowers on short stems. It makes excellent groundcover, and is particularly useful for edging sunny paths and filling gaps in the front of sunny borders. It has a tendency to spread quickly, and typically flowers in early summer, but if the flower stems are cut back promptly as they fade, clumps will often yield a second flush of blooms.
For best results, grow Campanula glomerata 'Purple Pixie' in full sun to partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil.
