Clematis 'Piilu' is an early-flowering clematis, bearing large, mauve-pink wavy-edged flowers from May onwards. The first flush of flowers in spring are usually double or semi-double, and measure up to 12cm in diameter. Later in the season a second flush of single, paler flowers may appear on new growth.

It's ideal for growing up fences and walls, or training through trees and shrubs. It is also suitable for growing in containers.

Being an early flowering clematis with large blooms, Clematis 'Piilu' falls into Pruning Group Two. This group of clematis doesn't require much pruning other than a little deadheading in summer, and removal of dead shoots in spring.
