Bleeding heart vine, Clerodendrum thomsoniae, is a climbing plant native to tropical West Africa. It has dark green leaves, striking white and red heart-shaped flowers, and black fruits.

Owing to its tropical roots, it's perfect for growing in a sunny and humid greenhouse or conservatory, but it may be taken outside in summer. Grow in moist but well-drained soil up an obelisk or similar structure, and prune annually to train it. In the greenhouse or conservatory, it may be susceptible to red spider mite and whitefly.
