Dianthus 'Cosmic Swirl Red' produces red flowers with pink swirls. The silvery-green foliage is a fine foil for the mass of rich pink flowers that are continually replaced, but even when not in flower the low creeping evergreen mats make a good background for surrounding plants. Plants almost flower themselves to death, so it is advisable to take cuttings of Dianthus 'Cosmic Swirl Red' in late summer and replace old plants every three to four years.
