Chilean fire bush, Embothrium coccineum, is a half hardy shrub, bearing gorgeous, spidery bright orange-red flowers in late-spring and early summer. It’s perfect for growing in the conservatory or greenhouse, and may be grown outside in south- and south-westerly parts of the British Isles.

Grow Embothrium coccineum in fertile, moist but well-drained neutral to acid soil in full sun, away from winds. Protect from frost in winter. Alternatively, grow in a large container, which you can move under cover in autumn.
