Sweet peas can be trained to grow up canes for high-quality blooms, or allowed to scramble up a trellis or obelisk. They make excellent cut flowers. Plants need a cool moist root run, and regular watering in dry weather.
Lathyrus odoratus ‘King Edward VII’ is a highly scented heirloom Grandiflora sweet pea, bearing strongly scented, crimson flowers throughout summer and into autumn. Growing to a height of 1.8m, it’s taller and more robust than most Grandiflora varieties.
For best results, feed Lathyrus odoratus ‘King Edward VII’ fortnightly with a high-potash fertiliser, and deadhead regularly to prolong flowering.
