Evening primroses, Oenothera, are a group of annuals, biennials and perennials, native to North and South America. They're so-called because the flowers of many species open in the evenings to attract pollinators that are specialised to collecting pollen from them. Many evening primroses have richly scented flowers.

Oenothera versicolor 'Sunset Boulevard' is a bushy perennial evening primrose with whorls of flowers produced throughout summer and into autumn. Each flower begins as an apricot colour, before fading to a rich, plummy red.

For best results, grow Oenothera versicolor 'Sunset Boulevard' in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Cut it back hard in autumn once it has finished flowering. Oenothera versicolor 'Sunset Boulevard' is easy to grow from seed sown in early spring.
