Physocarpus opulifolius 'Little Devil' is a dwarf ninebark, grown for its colourful foliage, which emerges bright red and turns burgundy as it matures. Clusters of pink flowers mature to bright red berries, both of which contrast beautifully with the foliage. When plants reach maturity the bark peels away in layers. It's ideal for growing in a mixed herbaceous border and looks fantastic when grown alongside lime-green coloured plants.

For best results grow Physocarpus opulifolius 'Little Devil' in moist but well-drained, slightly acidic soil, in sun or partial shade. Avoid chalky soils. Prune back to the base after flowering to encourage colourful new growth. Mulch in autumn with well-rotted compost or manure.
