Pisum sativum 'Sugar Crystal'

Like all sugar snap peas, Pisum sativum 'Sugar Crystal' is sweet enough for the whole pod to be eaten. It produces high yields, of sweet-tasting pods of up to eight peas. Its resistance to powdery mildew and fusarium wilt makes it a good choice for late sowings.

For best results grow Pisum sativum 'Sugar Crystal' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Sow from March to July for harvesting from mid-June to October. Before sowing, dig in lots of organic matter, such as compost. Most varieties need to be given some support, such as netting or pea sticks. Water the plants once a week as soon as the plants begin to flower and form pods.
