Pittosporums are excellent for sheltered gardens and costal areas where the climate is not too harsh. In these areas plants make good specimen trees or can be trimmed into neat hedges.
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Warnham Gold' is a compact pittosporum, bearing rounded, golden-yellow leaves which are brightest in winter. Small scented purple flowers are borne in late spring. The foliage also lasts well when cut, making it a good accompaniment to flowers.
Grow Pittosporumtenuifolium 'Warnham Gold' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Propagate by taking softwood cuttings in summer, and prune in late-winter only to tidy the general shape of the shrub. Mulch annually with well-rotted manure or garden compost.
