Potentillas (cinquefoil) are perennials with pretty, strawberry-like flowers and leaves from spring to midsummer. They're perfect for adding colour to a well-drained herbaceous border.

Potentilla x tonguei is a low growing plant that bears apricot flowers with a red eye from mid-spring to late summer. It makes a good groundcover plant. For best results grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
