The Digitalis Illumination series are hybrids of our native species, Digitalis purpurea, and the Canary Island foxglove, Isoplexis. Unlike Digitalis purpurea, plants are perennial and semi-evergreen. The foxglove-like flowers are tinged with warm, tropical-looking colours. Being completely sterile, plants don’t set seed but instead flower for several months. What’s more, flower stems are sturdy, making them ideal for cutting.

Digitalis 'Illumination Ruby Slippers' bears several spires of trumpet-shaped blooms in shocking pink with orange throats, on short plants. They’re perfect for growing at the front of a border and are even suitable for a container.

Grow Digitalis 'Illumination Ruby Slippers' in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Deadhead spent blooms and feed fortnightly with a potash-rich fertiliser.
