Elder-leaved valerian, Valeriana officinalis subsp. sambucifolia, is a highly ornamental, tall and airy plant bearing fragrant, white to pale pink flowers in late spring/early summer. Young foliage is purple-green. It’s perfect for growing alongside Verbena bonariensis, it’s a magnet for insects and works well as a cut flower.

Grow , Valeriana officinalis subsp. sambucifolia in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Cut down spent blooms or allow them to self-seed. Divide congested clumps in spring.
