All veronicas, or speedwells, are undemanding perennials which love sunshine and well-drained, moist soil.

Veronica gentianoides is a floriferous, semi-evergreen, clump-forming perennial, bearing pretty, blue fragrant flowers. It's a plant of the woodland edge, so is at home in humus-rich soil in dappled shade.

Veronica gentianoides 'Intermedia' flowers a little later than other varieties, bearing delicate, white-blue blooms. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering, and split clumps annually to avoid the centre of the plant dying out.
